From Sea to Shining Sea

Erin’s Trek Across America

Day 42- Youngstown, OH

Today was 96 miles into Youngstown, Ohio. We were riding along some corn fields that were taller than me, and we heard these vrooming noises coming from way back in the corn somewhere. We were trying to figure out what in the world it was, when all of a sudden we see this dirtbike flying through the sky and then disappear back into the corn fields. We rode a little further down and we saw the entrance to a dirt bike show/contest (not sure what they call them) and we decided that we needed to take a closer look. So here we are, riding our little road bikes (dressed in ridiculous spandex) down a dirt path and all of these kids and teenagers and their parents are looking at us thinking that we must be very lost. We were able to watch a few races…my heart about jumped out of my chest to watch these guys get so high on their bikes..these kids are nuts– but their parents are even crazier for letting them do it—sorry Josh! Here is a pic of one group taking off–

Other exciting sites today were a couple of covered bridges, and a Goodyear blimp! Tomorrow we ride into Pennsylvania!
